*Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
Sudden Cardiac Arrest is one of the leading causes of death among adults in North America. Victims
of cardiac arrest need immediate CPR. CPR provides a small but vital amount of blood flow to the heart and brain.
*Automated External Defibrillation
An Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is a small, portable computerized device that diagnoses and treats
Ventricular Fibrillation (VF). It is attached with wires and pads to the chest of a victim, and if that victim is
in VF, then the device will deliver an electric shock to the victim's heart.
*First-Aid
It is a frightening feeling to be faced with a person struggling for life and not know how to help them.
The goal of basic first-aid training is to help avoid that situation. First-aid can help save lives, reduce pain, and shorten
healing time. First-aid training helps to create a feeling of protection and respect among coworkers, community members,
and friends.
*Bloodborne Pathogens
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration estimates that 8 million workers in the healthcare industry
and related occupations are at risk of exposure to bloodborne pathogens. The viruses of main concern are HIV, HBV, and
HCV. Any employee that has a reasonable anticipation of contact with blood or other body fluids should receive this
training.
*Emergency Medical Response
This class is designed to help laypersons with the minimum knowledge and skills necessary to provide emergency
care for suddenly ill or injured adults in the workplace. The class addresses CPR, basic First-aid, AED, Emergency Oxygen
administration, and Bloodborne Pathogens.
Emergency Preparedness
This is a very basic class teaching community members how to prepare themselves for emergencies that could
occur within their community. It addresses Family Emergency Plans, Disaster Kits, Evacuation vs. Shelter-in-Place, etc.
